About the Song:
Svinfylking, also known as the “boar’s snout” formation, was a tactical formation used by the Vikings and other Germanic tribes during the Early Middle Ages. The name derives from the shape of the formation, which resembled the snout of a boar
Lyrics:
Maahan miehet, maahan miekat
Paha kansa kallellehen
Sotajoukko syrjällehen
Manan maille matkoihinsa
Terä ruttuhun rutista
Kärki käännä käppyrähän
Vaikk’ ois’ vaskesta valettu
Hopeasta huoliteltu
Translated:
Into creases squeeze the tip
Into a hook twist up the spike
Though of cast copper made
or of careful silver workmanship
Men to the ground, swords to the ground
Evil people slanting wise
The soldiers on their sides
On their way to below the ground
About the feature:
Noiduin (I cast a spell) is a Finnish Dark Folk act hailing from Pori, located on the Western coast of Finland.
Noiduin draws its inspiration from Finnish mythology and folklore, and the songs are often based on ancient Finnish spell poems. One of the focal points and a big part of Noiduin’s charm are the self-built traditional intruments like talharpa, kantele and witchdrums which together create an otherwordly atmosphere.
As a live band Noiduin operates as:
Jemina – Vocals, talharpa
Henri – Vocals, talharpa, kantele
Matilda – Vocals, jaw harp, percussions
Mikko – Drums, percussions
